About Me
I have a B.A. in Mathematics, a B.A. in Graphic Design, and a M.S. in Marketing. I did my undergrad at Azusa Pacific University and a graduate program at WGU. I have a deep passion for STEM education and learning! I love the opportunity to teach and guide students towards using their creativity and critical thinking skills to grow and expand their minds. I have taught middle school math and science for 2 years now and have loved every moment of watching curiosity and awe grow in my students throughout the year. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending my time hiking, designing, reading, or visiting fun coffee shops. I hope to bring an interactive, fun, creative, and multisensory approach to my classes.
About My Class
Earth Science
This one-year course for 6 graders meets twice a week and is an overview of conceptual earth science. Through in-class projects, field exercises, demonstrations, research, group activities, discussions, modeling, and laboratory exercises, students will develop an understanding of: space, our solar system, astronomers and their tools, our planet, geology, and weather.
Weekly homework assignments from the textbook, lab reports, and handouts will be completed by the students at home each week to help students ask questions, define and solve problems through investigations, analyze and interpret data, and use it to create models, argue using evidence, and overall think critically about earth science. Tests will be sent home with the student to be administered by their parents online at the end of each unit. An in-class final will be given by the instructor at the end of the first and second semesters. There will be an all-ACA middle school student science fair during school hours in the spring. All lab materials will be provided from the lab fee collected. This course was written to meet California NGSS standards.
